For anyone that has ever experienced Fall in New York, you know it’s basically winter’s prelude and forewarning for how brutal the upcoming season will be. This year, I decided to listen to mother nature’s notice and get away while I still had the chance! So, I gathered some girlfriends, booked a flight, packed up my suitcase, and went on a week long exploration of Thailand and everything that it had to offer.
While away, I visited Bangkok, Koh Samui, Phuket, and the Phi Phi Islands. To my surprise, the beaches were not as beautiful as I had anticipated. Nevertheless, they beat the repetitive New York subway and sidewalk scenery by a mile. In addition to the step up in atmosphere and weather, I was surrounded by some of the most friendliest people! I had not realized how accustomed I had become to the harsh “get out of my way” New Yorker personas until I was surrounded by the warm, kind, and caring communities of Thailand.
My favorite part- if not also the most memorable portion of the trip were the sunsets. To say the least, these were some of the most beautiful sights I had ever laid my eyes on! I was in total awe but, as if the view alone was not enough, my friends and I had the pleasure of having dinner overlooking the stunning view. For a major foodie such as myself, this only made my dining experience that much better. Put together great people, amazing food, and sunsets you thought only existed on Google images- not much can compare.
Did I mention my muy thai experience? I was over 5,000 miles away from my home gym but leave it to me to make sure that despite this, I was going to get a workout in! No matter where I go, my fitness mania is sure to follow. While away, I took a muy thai class that was so epic, I’m still obsessing over it weeks later. I’ve been on the hunt for any places that offer this sweat filled workout ever since I’ve gotten back. I definitely recommend it to any and everyone who is looking for some change in their daily fitness routine.
